Early intervention and children with special needs / IDEA

IDEA stands for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. IDEA is a federal law. The IDEA program provides special services for children with developmental delays, disabilities, or special needs. The child's PCP evaluates the child to determine the need for services. If a child needs IDEA services, the PCP provides a reference to the DC Government's Early Intervention Program. AmeriHealth Caritas District of Columbia's case managers are available to answer questions about IDEA.

AmeriHealth Caritas DC is committed to partnering with and supporting providers in the treatment of children with special needs (CWSN). As part of this effort, AmeriHealth Caritas DC offers the following resources to help guide the treatment of CWSN.
